I’m a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and school psychologist with over 30 years of experience supporting individuals in finding creative solutions to approach anxiety, depression and life transitions, as well as relationship and family dynamics.
I believe it takes a village to prosper and therapy can help you build that supportive community in your life. We all have unique strengths and our quirks and distinctive personalities should be honored.
My goal is to help you recognize and hone in on your strengths and abilities while crowding out some of the less helpful thought patterns or behaviors that get in the way of your best functioning.
I often use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), an evidence-based practice that is very helpful with anxiety and depression. CBT helps people learn to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that negatively influence behavior and emotions. When we reframe unhelpful thoughts and behavioral responses and can be more flexible in our perceptions and approaches, we open the door for positive growth and changes in the way we feel. We can’t change our past or other people, but we can control the way we respond to stressors in our lives.
